If you are like the typical American family the kitchen can be the hub of your home. So much of our time, energy and money revolves around what happens in this one room.
So for this section of your planner we are all about the Kitchen. These pages will hopefully help you simplify the time you spend in the kitchen, maximize your productivity while there and hopefully save you a pretty penny too. I know when I plan out menu's and shopping lists I save so much more money at the store.
As a family list your Top 20 Favorite Dinner's. This page will be a good place to brainstorm what it is you want to make.
Then to make sure you don't over-do it with having a certain dish too often it's great to have a monthly menu planner.
The Family Homestead posts a once a month cooking calendar as well.
Now for the nitty-gritty. Here's my one of my favorite kitchen planning pages.
I usually sit down with the Weekly Menu Page, my Grocery Store Sales Ads and in front of my cupboards and plan out the week. Jotting down the meals in appropriate columns and what items I need to buy for those meals on the side. Or I put those items right on my shopping list and use the side column to write down healthy alternatives I'd be willing to substitute in my recipes. I really try to take advantage of sales if I can. If you really want to save money do two weeks at a time. The less often you go to the grocery store the more you'll save by not impulse buying.
So don't go to the store without this Shopping page.
Most grocery stores are set up in sections and you don't want to be criss-crossing the store a hundred times getting items off your list. This shopping page makes it easy to be in and out in a flash.
And since we are on the subject of shopping (even though this doesn't really have anything to do with the kitchen), here is another Shopping list for household items that probably won't be found in the grocery store - but is excellent to have if your running to several different places.
Add items to your shopping lists when you realize that your low on a particular thing or if there's something you want (better yet need). Don't every shop without your list or your liable to forget something.
Another way to save money is to start your own Grocery Price list. Jot down the items that you buy the most and list their prices at your favorite stores. That way if you store hop to get good sales and you really need something that's not on sale you'll still know where to get the best deal.
If you like to really take advantage of sales and stock up on a great deal then you may like to use these pantry checklist pages.
And freezer checklist.
That's it in a nutshell. If you want these pages included in your very own planner then you may want this title page of Kitchen quotes to separate this section from the others. Just put it in a sheet protector.
Some people find these In the Kitchen pages too much for their regular household planner so they have a separate Kitchen Binder - In it they might also include their favorite recipes.
Remember that you can get similar and even more detailed pages over at Organized Home. So check them out for even more ideas.
On a side note: Because of the important and sensitive information found in the Household Planner - (Medical & Financial coming soon). I rarely take my Household planner out of my home. I'll take the shopping pages out and take them with me. But usually the only time the book leaves the home is when I'm visiting a Doctor, or signing up kids for different school or sport activities that require sensitive information.
Here's to some happy, healthy and resourceful time spent in your kitchen.
Don't forget our other Household Planner Pages. Once I introduce you to all the pages I will be sure and add a sidebar that includes them all so that you won't have to jump around to different posts to find them.
